Who We Are

Kara Salerno
Founder/Owner/Pilates Instructor
Pilates has been an integral part of Kara's life since the age of fourteen, when her ballet coach put her on a Reformer to cross train as she was training to become a professional dancer. Pilates was her main form of exercise as she was performing eight shows a week on Broadway to maintain endurance and prevent injury, it helped to get her back in shape after the birth of her two daughters, and it was her main form of rehabilitation after meniscus surgery. After moving to NYC in 2003, Kara went through Stott Pilates Teacher Training, but never pursued teaching, as she spent the next 15 years performing on Broadway in "Phantom of the Opera", "Billy Elliot", and the "Radio City Christmas Spectacular". In 2018, when an opportunity came up to move the family to NC, Kara knew her next career would be teaching Pilates. She immediately pursued Balanced Body's Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training in NYC. Upon moving to NC Kara worked as the Pilates Director and taught Pilates at a corporate gym. She quickly realized that environment was not for her and in order to help people the way she had hoped, she would have to open her own studio, so Pilates En Pointe was born. Kara has found a passion for teaching and helping others feel better through movement and exercise. With Kara's extensive dance background and personal experience with rehabilitative Pilates, she brings discipline and a concentration on technique to her students and has a keen eye for helping each individual with form and alignment, making sure they are working right for their body.

She went through the globally recognized Balanced Body Comprehensive Teacher Training.

Kim Russell
Pilates Instructor
Kim is a dedicated mom of three boys, a former geriatric nurse, and a 9-year NC transplant (originally from Pittsburgh). After practicing Mat Pilates for years, she decided to take Reformer/Mixed Equipment Classes at Pilates En Pointe and fell in love with the practice.
Pilates has served as her "missing link" to total body health by helping her overcome injuries related to hyper-mobility. The pivotal role that the practice has played in her life has inspired her to teach others. She enrolled in the reputable, evidence-based, comprehensive training program, Polestar Pilates, that focuses on helping people of all levels safely explore the Pilates repertoire. She is excited to be taking on a different role in the studio she loves so much and to be given the chance to help others improve their lives through the transformative power of Pilates.
